About
Jennifer: I’m a mom, writer, amateur photographer, and now a blogger. My two children–an 8 year old boy and a 6 year old girl–are two of the great loves of my life. My husband and writing are the other two. Somedays, I feel caught between my dual–or even dueling–roles of mother and writer. Each can be a pretty powerful force. The mommy force almost always wins out. In my pre-baby days, I worked as a technical writer. Since I’ve become a mom, I’ve taken on a variety of writing projects that I’d work around my children’s schedule, including technical writing, grant writing, and freelance newspaper reporting. Blogging is my way of bringing parenting and writing together. Hopefully, in the process I can connect with other moms.
Matt: Husband, dad to our active little monkeys, tech support guy, and contributer. Matt works as a software consultant and software developer, so he can bring all his tech savy to our blog. Whenever he has a spare moment, which are few and far between, he jumps on his bike (that’s in bicycle not motorcyle) and rides the Wisconsin trails near our home. He is also a fantastic cook, and he thinks he will be the next Iron Chef.
Our Mission Statement: A Parent Reason is a place for moms, dads, or caretakers to celebrate, and sometimes commiserate, the awesome job of parenting. More specifiically, APR focuses on how our world, both immediate and distant, impacts our children and us. Our aim is also to question how can we respond as parents.
